Site survey of Barangay Cabatuanan Watershed and Wildlife Project in Basay - Proposed site for the crocodile project of Dr. Alcala

Entering the Project Site: Cabatuanan Watershed and Wildlife Conservation Project. The Crocodile Project aims to repopulate the river systems of Basay and Hinobaan especially Pagatban River of Bayawan with crocodiles(crocodylus mindorensis) or the Philippine crocodile which is endemic to that place. It is believed that crocodiles still inhabit this rivers but have managed to evade human contact for decades. The last sighting was reported in 1979 according to residents of the Baranggay. In 1972, a juvenile crocodile was captured in Pagatban River and donated to the Silliman Marine Laboratory by Silliman Anthropologist, Dr. Timoteo Oracion.
